Rosé wines are light-coloured wines made from blue or red grapes. Depending on how strongly the grape skins are involved in the production process, different degrees of colouring come about - from salmon-coloured to cherry red.
As a rule the grape juice is separated from the red grape skins immediately or after a few days at the latest. Blending red and white wines for obtaining Rosé wine is not permitted so far - at least within the EU. An exception is made for Rosé sparkling wines.
Rosé wines should be drunk while they are young; however, it is possible to store them for two to three years.
Above all on warm days a cooled glass of rosé wine is refreshing and fits perfectly with savoury, light dishes such as antipasti or fish, and with desserts.
