The area on the sole of the boot with its about 11,000 hectares is a very small, nevertheless fascinating and charming region of Italy. Ever since the 6th century BC wine has been cultivated there, above all on sedimentary rock and volcanic grounds with major temperature fluctuations between day and night as well as summer and winter.
We should like to specially point out the DOC sites on Monte Vulture, with the wines from the old Aglianico grape variety, also known as "Barolo of the south".
Here, excellent wines come from Paternoster, the Catina de Notaio and Cantina de Venosa.
